  • Installing JMP Pro. Go to software.usc.edu/jmp and download JMP Pro for Mac. Double-click the JMP Pro file to expand the JMP files. The JMP folder should automatically open. In the JMP folder, double-click the application called JMP Pro.pkg to begin the installation process.
  • Download JMP 14 for Mac or PC today. Note: This software offer is available for in-classroom learning purposes. If you are a researcher, please contact the JMP Academic team at [email protected] or 1-877-594-6567 for licensing options.

Select the license file and click Choose.*Note: The license file (JMP.per) can be found in the 'JMP Pro 12.01 Mac 2016' folder you had previously saved or dragged onto the desktop in step 4 & 5.

These instructions are for the latest release, JMP Pro 14 for the 2019-20 license term. Installation of versions 12 and 13 use the same procedure as the one shown here, except for the names of the files. The installation files are located in the same locations in their respective installers.

Install JMP Pro for Windows

  1. Download the current JMP license file archive. You can find this on your order confirmation page. For instructions on how to access your order confirmation page, please see How To Look Up Your Software Codes.
    • On the order confirmation page, click the link.
    • On the Download Software splash page, click the link to download the file JMP-License-2019-20.zip
    • Departmental Subscribers Only: If you are part of a department that has a departmental JMP license, instead please check with your departmental JMP license coordinator to obtain your current JMP license file.
  2. After the license file archive has downloaded, right-click it and select Extract All. This should create a folder called JMP-License-2019-20 in the location you selected. Inside that folder will be several folders, each listing a version of JMP (version number and Mac or Windows). Please remember the location of this folder.
  3. On the CU Software JMP page, download the JMP Pro 14 installer for Windows. The file name will be JMPPro14-Win.zip.
  4. After the installer has finished downloading, right-click the installer and select Extract Files. You will be prompted to select a location to put the files.
    We recommend that you create a new folder in your My Documents folder for this purpose.
  5. After they have been extracted, go to that folder. Find the application and double-click.
  6. The installer should now run. You will be prompted for a few options during the installation. We recommend that you accept the default values for all options. You do not need to enter a department or administrator name.
  7. After the installer finishes, you should now see a shortcut to JMP Pro 14 on your desktop. Double-click that shortcut.
  8. The first time you run JMP, it will need to be told the location of a current license file. Click and navigate to the JMP-License-2019-20 folder that you created in Step 2 above. Within that folder, navigate to the license file JMP.per located in the folder that matches your version of JMP and operating system. Click .
    If you cannot find the license file, click Windows Start and type the file name in the search box.
Some customers report that that after applying the license, they receive a 'License Expired' error. If that happens to you, please re-run the the license authorization (start at step 5 above), but when you get to step 8, instead of JMP.per, select the other file in the license folder. That file will have a long file name of a format similar to 'JMP###_XXXXXX_#######_WIN_X64.txt'.

Install JMP Pro for Mac

  2. After the license file archive has downloaded, right-click it and select Extract All. This should create a folder called JMP-License-2019-20 in the location you selected.   5. A virtual disk should appear on your desktop, called JMP-14-Installer. That disk should contain a JMP installer application called JMP Pro 143.pkg. (Note: Depending in your Mac’s system settings, you may not see the '.pkg' extension to the file name.)
  6. Double-click the installer. You may be prompted for your macOS Administrator password to install the software.
  7. While the installer runs, you may be prompted to select options. We recommend that you accept the default values for all options.
  8. After the installer finishes, you should find a JMP application in your Applications folder. Double-click the application to start JMP.
  9. The first time you run JMP, the application will open a window that prompts you to browse to a JMP license file. Click the button and navigate to the JMP-License-2019-20 folder that you created in Step 2 above. Within that folder, navigate to the license file JMP.per located in the folder that matches your version of JMP and operating system. Click .

Install JMP Genomics (Windows only)

    • On the Download Software splash page, click the link to download the file JMP-License-2019-20.zip

  2. From the CU Software JMP Licensing page, download JMP Genomics 9. This will download JMP-Genomics-9-Depot.zip.
  3. Right-click the file you just downloaded and select from the dropdown menu.
  4. When complete, you should find a new folder called JMP-Genomics-9-Depot next to the archive. Open the folder.
  5. Inside the folder, you should see an application called . Double-click that application to launch.
  6. The Setup Utility may take several minutes to load. If Windows asks if you want the program to make changes to your computer, click Yes.
  7. A program called SAS Deployment Wizard should launch. Select the language you wish to use for the installation process. (English is default) and click .
  8. On the Select Deployment Task window, select . Click .
  9. On the Specify SAS Home window, we recommend that you keep the default setting. Click .
  10. On the Specify Deployment Type window, select . Click .
  11. On the Select Products to Install window, check the box next to each individual component that you wish to install, and click .
    • If you only want JMP Genomics, you may uncheck all other boxes.
    • If you also want to use SAS Genetics, we recommend that you keep the default products selected.
    • Please be advised that the version of SAS Statistics installed alongside JMP Genomics is a partial installation, and is not intended as a standalone SAS Statistics installer.
  12. For the rest of the option windows, we strongly advise that you select the default values and click .
  13. After you have selected the installation options, the installer will run a configuration check. This can take several minutes. If it returns errors, click to the problematic section and choose another value. If it passes the check, click .
  14. Review the installation options. If they are correct, click Start. The installer may run for more than an hour, and may require a reboot of your computer.
  15. If your computer does reboot, the SAS Deployment Wizard will attempt to launch. If Windows prompts for permission, allow it to run. After it launches, click .
  16. Upon successful installation, click .

Overview

  • The University of Delaware has a campus-wide license for the statistical software JMP Pro - statistical discovery software with automated analytic techniques for data mining and predictive modeling.
  • JMP Pro is available for Windows 64-bit and macOS systems.
  • The software may be downloaded and used by UD undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff for research and instructional purposes only. It may be installed on UD-owned and personally owned systems.
  • The Dept. of Applied Economics and Statistics has paid the entire license fee for the 2019-2020 academic year. They have agreed to allow the rest of the UD community to use the software at no charge. In future years, other departments should consider cost-sharing the annual license fee to ensure continued access to the software.

  • By downloading this software, you agree to use the JMP software for instructional and research use only and that you will not distribute JMP to others.

Installation

Windows:

  1. Download the installer from the menu shown on the right.
  2. When prompted, click Run.
  3. If prompted to install .NET framework, allow this to happen. This may take a while (5-6 minutes.)
  4. Accept the security warning for setup.exe if it appears.
  5. If you get the 'Windows protected your PC' message, select More info then Run Anyway
  6. On the JMP 14 screen and subsequent screens select Next and then Install.
  7. Click Finish to close the installation window.
  8. JMP 14 is now ready to run.
  9. NOTE: On some systems, JMP is not automatically activated, if this is the case, follow the instructions for Updating your JMP License below.

macOS:

macOS NOTE: If you have an older machine running an operating system prior to High Sierra (10.13) please download the 10.12 and earlier version of the software. They are exactly the same other than the disk image format.

NOTE: If reinstalling, remove the old version first, see instructions below.

  1. Download the installer from the menu shown on the right.
  2. In the Downloads folder, open the file downloaded.
  3. Double-click the JMPPro-14-macOS.dmg to open the disk image.
  4. Copy the license file SID file (JMP14...txt) to the desktop or some other easily accessible location for activation later.
  5. Double-click the JMP Pro 14.pkg to start the installer.
  6. Click Install and accept defaults as appropriate.
  7. Click Quit to close the installation window.
  8. Activate JMP:
    1. If this is a new installation:
      1. Open JMP from the Applications folder.
      2. In the 'Provide your JMP License' window, select 'Open License'.
      3. Select the SID file (JMP14.......txt) copied in step 4 then click on 'Choose'.
      4. (Optional) Enter an Administrator Name and Department.
      5. Click OK.
    2. If you have already installed a version of JMP:
      1. From the File menu, select New > Script to open a script window.
      2. Enter this line: renew license();
      3. From the Edit menu, select Run Script.
      4. In the resulting Renew Your JMP License window, click Open License.
      5. Navigate to downloads folder, then to the unzipped JMP folder (JMPPro-14-macOS)
      6. Select the SID file (JMP14_....txt) copied in step 4 then click on 'Choose'.
      7. (Optional) Enter an Administrator Name and Department.
      8. Click OK.
  9. Delete the downloaded .zip file and expanded folder from the Downloads folder.
  10. JMP 14 is now ready to run from the Applications folder.
Note: The first time you run JMP you will be presented with a Preferences Screen. Please be sure to scroll to the bottom and select 'OK'.

Keeping JMP up-to-date

Jmp Download For Mac You should configure your software to check periodically for updates.
  • Select File > Preferences > JMP Updates and select Check Now.
  • IMPORTANT: CLOSE ALL JMP WINDOWS BEFORE APPLYING ANY UPDATES.
  • If you need to reinstall JMP, uninstall it first THEN manually make sure all files and directories are deleted (see instructions below).
Updating your JMP License:
  • Download and Save the appropriate license (SID) file from the menu shown on the right
  • Start JMP or JMP Pro
  • If your JMP license is past your expiration date, the first screen you see at JMP launch is a message that your JMP license is expired.
    1. Click Open License.
    2. At the prompt, navigate to where you saved the SID file in Step 1.
    3. Click Open.
    4. Enter an Administrator Name and Department if you desire.
    5. Click OK.
If it prompts you to save a PER file, save it to a place it can remain. JMP will not run properly without that file
  • If your JMP license has not expired, you must start the renewal process manually.
    1. From the File menu, select New > Script to open a script window.
    2. Enter this line: renew license();
    3. From the Edit menu, select Run Script.

    5. At the prompt, navigate to where you saved the SID file in Step 1.
    6. Click Open.

Uninstalling JMP - Complete all steps to completely remove JMP.

If renewing the SID file fails, follow this procedure then reinstall:

For Windows

  1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features to uninstall JMP.
  2. Delete the JMP directory matching your version, normally at:
    • C:Program FilesSASJMP*{version_number} for most systems or
    • C:Program Files(x86)SASJMP*{version_number} for 32-bit JMP on a 64-bit operating system
    • * Your 'JMP' or 'JMPPro' or 'JMPEA' depending on which version of JMP you have installed.
  3. Delete the JMP user directory at: C:Users{userid}AppDataLocalSASJMP*{version_number}

  1. In Finder > Go > Go To Folder and enter ~/Library
  2. Browse To Application Support and Delete The JMP folder
  3. Click the back button
  4. Go to the Preferences folder and delete com.sas.jmp.plist
  5. Click Finder > Go > Computer
  6. Browse To Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Delete the JMP folder
  7. Click Finder > Go > Applications
  8. Delete JMP Pro 14
  9. Empty the Trash
  10. Restart your computer
